Google Assistant

Google Assistant is a function that listens to your voice. It can search for information on the Internet for you, provide information about your events and start apps if you give it a command.
Google voice input is convenient for performing routine tasks by voice command. Google Assistant is able to understand more complex tasks too, however. For example, instead of saying "Weather, 17th February", you can ask this: "Hey Google, what's the weather going to be like tomorrow?"
You'll see that you can therefore control your phone with voice commands after a bit of practice.

How do I use Google Assistant?

What you need:

  • An Internet connection (via Wi-Fi or mobile data)
  • A Google account

What to do:

  • Tap and hold the home button or say "OK Google" or "Hey Google".
  • Google Assistant will open and ask you how it can help you.
  • Now ask a question or state an instruction.
What questions can I ask?

The following are examples of questions Google Assistant understands and
show how you can formulate questions.

  • Maps: "How long does it take to travel from Vienna to Munich by car?" in addition to the answer, Google Maps will display a suggested route.
  • Translate: "How do you say 'Where's the exit?' in Russian?"
You can use single words or whole sentences as questions.
  • ·· Events: "Remind me to go shopping in an hour".
A reminder will be created here and issued as a notification at the specified time.
  • Lists: "Write 'Do washing' on my to-do list.
This facility allows you to make notes without the inconvenience of typing them.
  • Weather: "What's the weather like in London?"
The answer will be provided in both written and audio form.

Funny commands

Google's voice assistant doesn't always know the answer, but it's creative enough to keep you guessing, even when it gets stuck.

Fun is a must

So let's try it out: Okay, Google ...
"Sing me a song!"
"Sing me a birthday song!"
"I need money"
"Who's the fairest of them all?
"How many seconds are in a year?
"How old am I?"

"Ask me a riddle"
"How old are you?"
"What is your favourite food?"
"Are you rich?"

"Who's smarter? Alexa, Siri or you?"
"How do you feel about Siri?"
