Manage photos with Google Photos

Store the entire photo library in one central location.

Google Photos is free in itself and allows users to upload an unlimited number of photos and videos to the database in the cloud. Provided that one accepts a small restriction. Photos may be uploaded in a maximum resolution of 16 megapixels; if they are larger, the service scales them down to this value.

Change the view of the photos

The default view is the month view. With a simple trick you can switch to the day view. And it is just as easy to find the photos of a particular year and month.

Month view

By default, the photos in the photo stream are displayed in the monthly view.
Tap on "Photos" (a) at the bottom left. In the upper area of the main screen you will find the so-called "memory carousel" with photos from 1 year ago, 2 years ago, etc. as well as the current highlights.
Below this you will find the photos that you have saved, arranged in months.

Scroll

Scroll down to view the older photos. A scroll guide (b) will appear, which you can use to search for photos by month by dragging them up or down.

Switch to day view

To switch to the day view, simply drag the current view apart with two fingers.

Zoom in further

If you zoom in one more time in this view by pulling two fingers apart, you will get to a view in which landscape format photos are shown in the entire width of the display. In this view, too, you can show the scroll guide and find the photo of a certain date by dragging.
